Around July of '07 my marriage of 7 years came to an end.. That's a whole unbelievable (literally) blog in itself, but the point is that I've always been intrigued by interesting travels. As a programmer, I work remote and as long as I've got cel and internet connectivity with my wireless broadband card, I'm good to go. Ultimately I would like to backpack through Europe, but first, I'm taking a smaller trek out west to get a little experience with travels of larger magnitude (view my route at the right of this page). This site will be a place for me to chronicle my travels, leave some photos, and jot down any interesting things that happen that I might one day forget.

New Brighton

Thursday, October 4, 2007 - My next stop on Tuesday was New Brighton state beach in Monterey Bay. I will be here until Friday. My site doesn't have a clear view of the ocean, but it is very secluded and nestled inside a small forest area with large trees all around protecting the grounds. I placed my tent just in front of the forest, which has an incredible variety of changing colors right now due to the seasons - greens, oranges, reds, yellows. The ocean is visible looking through the trees. The sun sets each night through this forest and illuminates these colors. It's quite nice.

Got a call from Morgan (from Manresa) yesterday. She let me know of a free bluegrass festival with an incredible lineup going on in San Fransisco this weekend; we plan to meet up for that.

I have booked a campsite on Angel Island in the San Fransisco bay for Friday night. From the island there are supposed to be view of San Fransisco and the bridge, etc. This island is, at it's closest point, about a mile into the bay. Tomorrow after work I will kayak out to the island, then once I'm on, it's about a 2 mile hike to the campground. It should be interesting..
